The Royal Hawaiian Mint's "Hawaii Dala" was released at a first day issue press event on August 29 at the Pagoda Hotel. These private currency issues are like the Liberty Dollar and Berkshares issued on the mainland. Bernard vonNotHaus (left) is the person behind these private issues and mints. Royal Hawaiian Mint Offering New "Hawaii Dala"
By Bernard vonNotHaus
The Royal Hawaiian Mint is announcing that the $10 Warrior Hapalua Dala dated 2007 featuring King Kamehameha is now available. The obverse features Kamehameha as the Warrior who united the Hawaiian Islands in May of 1795 with the Battle of Nuuanu. The $10 reverse features the Hawaiian Crest and Crown.
The $10 Warrior Dala contains one half ounce of .999 fine silver minted in Brilliant Uncirculated condition and measures 32 mm in diameter with a reeded edge.
First Day of Issue for the $10 Warrior Dala is available with a hand stamped Hallmark of the Hawaiian Islands. In fact at less than one tenth of an inch, the hallmark is smaller than the hallmark on the Kamehameha Dala and it is now the worlds smallest map of Hawaii. Unfortunately, even with a really good loop you not see Ahualoa on the Big Island but it still has exquisite detail for that size.
Minimum order is for two Warrior Dalas. Please send your order for the $10 Warrior Dala (min 2/max 10) for $10 each and/or the First Day of Issue of the $10 Warrior Dala (limit 2) for $30each with $5 for shipping and handling to: RHM Fulfillment Office, 225 N. Stockwell Road, Evansville, Indiana, 47715. Shipment will be made within 30 days, so please allow up to 45 days to receive your order via insured mail.

I found an envelope with my first sketch for the Hawaiian paper money... post marked Honokaa 1977! When I realized it was the 30th anniversary! I decided to get it together and issue the first $1 Hawaii Dala paper currency... which is the focus of our Press Conference.
There are many good reasons for using a local currency... such as:
1. Local currency like the Hawaii Dala stays in the community, growing the local money supply and as the money supplies grows, so grows the wealth of the people who lives there.
2. Easy to use because it functions on a dollar-to-dollar basis with the US dollar
3. As the Hawaii Dala is gold and silver based, it is not tied to the US dollar so it holds it value. In fact the Hawaii Dala is inflation proof and will appreciate as the US dollar depreciates.
4. Hawaii Dala is distributed at a discount to primary distributors (note dist model explained later in this missive) who distribute at a profit. Members and merchants then use it at face value and can also profit.
5. Local pride is huge in Hawaii and it is even mentioned in the article about the Berkshares below. Nothing says local price like your own money!
6. Just as Berkshares generated a lot of good publicity with ABC-TV, Reuters, Yahoo and dozens of articles, the Hawaii Dala can generate a lot of positive publicity for Hawaii.
