BUSINESS STANDING FOR BUSINESS

Small Business Hawaii's "Business Standing For Business Forum" was a success. The event was held at the Hale Koa Hotel and featured Governor Linda Lingle as the keynote speaker and a panel of the Governor's cabinet members. The Governor vetoed 2 bills including a bad worker's comp bill at the forum. She also signed another bill which she presented to SBH member Ron Heller (above). More photos can be seen at this link.
Business Standing for Business Forum Held
More than 100 small business leaders attended a special forum organized by Small Business Hawaii, Tuesday, June 28 at the Hale Koa Hotel. Part of the forum, Business Standing for Business, featured 5 top state cabinet officials: Nelson Befitel, state labor chief; tax director, Kurt Kawafuchi; Lillian Koller, DHS, Russ Saito, DAGS, and Mark Recktenwald, DCCA. There was lively discussion.
Another part of the event was to hear from Governor Lingle in a keynote luncheon address. Lingle thanked SBH and other small business organizations for their support of her business climate legislation.
An important objective of the forum was to reinvigorate the small business legislative coalition to prepare for the 2006 legislative session next January. Among the organizations attending were representatives from, SBH, NFIB, Employers Chamber of Commerce, Hawaii restaurant Association and the Retail Merchants Association.
